Does anyone see a reason why I could not use Automotive grade (aftermarket) valve covers for my '89 5.7l Mercruiser?
The mercruiser parts are probably twice the price.

"Depending upon what type of exhaust you have, risers to y pipe or thru hulls, the automotive valve covers MAY interfere with the installation of the exhaust risers. They did on my '87 350 with stock exhaust risers to y pipe. My stock low profile valve covers worked without modification (hammering the inside egdge to creat clearance)"
