"I Have 3 - 225 4 strokes Yamahas. Not a problem in 3 years.

I picked up a heavy fish net on the starboard engine last trip (58 miles round trip). After removing the net from the prop, I noticed on the 26 mile trip back to port that the tach on this engine was jumping 200RPMs (up than back)- while the other tachs held steady.

I never noticed anything like this before. I thought cavitation or spun bushing - but I was not losing any speed on the gps (even when tack fell off 200RPMs - than quicly jumped back up.

When I got into 10 feet of water and calm seas the jumping tach stopped jumping, and all three tachs operated normally - heald steady at 4800. This part of the trip was 10 miles, so I thought/think everything is ok - but why did the tach jump in the first place?

I took the quicksilver mirage prop off and took to a specialist to see if I had "spun" the "rubber" bushing - but was told it is ok.

I'm not convinced, and I suppose the only thing I can do is test run the boat.

Any suggestions or anyone with a similar experience, I would like to hear.

Thanks."
