I recently repowered my sea ra

I recently repowered my sea ray laguna with a f250 25" shaft. I purchased the 25" shaft based on what the local sea ray dealer told me the boat needed. turns out the anti-cavitation plate now sits 2 and 1/2 inches above the bottom of the boat. I have not run the boat for fear of damaging the motor. Is this a serious problem. If so can I fix it with a bracket or a jack plate?any advice is appreciated

"The boat really needs a 30" shaft motor. The cavitation plate needs to be level to 3/8 of an inch above the lowest part of the hull. I don't know if they make a plate that will lower your 25" shaft lower, but you can raise a 30" shaft. If the motor is to high, you may not get enough water to go into the pickup, and it will cavitate. You may want to talk to another dealer. Hope this helps."
