Our engine is having a problem

Our engine is having a problem. It is hard to start and it coughs and sneezes. Whe we finally get it started it has a rough idle and it usually cuts. If we are able to keep it going then it stalls when we put it in gear. It also isn't peeing. Any ideas?
 
Start with a compression test.

Start with a compression test. This helps to establish condition of the engine. No point in spending money on a tune-up to then find out that the engine is in bad shape and in need of an overhaul.
 
I have a 1997 Johnson 115 hp m

I have a 1997 Johnson 115 hp motor that will start when the key primer is held down and it will run for 10 to 15 seconds and die out. I cleaned all the carbs and replaced the vapor separator with new parts. Could this mean the fuel pump is shot as I believe its not sucking gas on it's own. The boat is stored all winter. Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated.
