"Hello guys.....

As some of you know, I got water on my boat with water up to the carb....

the question now is the alternator...Its got some rust and I am a little worried...It seems to read 13 amps according to the gauge...some people tell me that it should be at least 14..Is there any way to test it without taking it out?

Any recomendation please post.

Thanks"

I think you're reading volts not amps. Voltage should be around 14 when the battery is fully charged, lower if the battery is charging. In electricity when Amps go up Volts go down and when Volts go up Amps are down.
Best way to test is take a voltage reading when the engine is off and record it. Then start the engine and see it the volts eventually exceed the stopped voltage (@14.2 volts). If so it shows the alternator is putting out.

If the voltmeter jumps up about 3-4 volts after she starts, then the alternator is doing its job. Just keep a watchful eye on it for the first few hours.

"Check you oil ,pull the drive and check the boot for trapped water.
grease U joints and gimbal. plan on replacing the gimbal bearing, starter, battery cables ,alt.,
once wet they always fail in short order."
