I am purchasing a fishfinder..

I am purchasing a fishfinder..
What do you guys recomend something that works but not expensive..

I was looking at the Humminbird Fishfinder 525 and the GARMIN FISHFINDER 140

They are both decent. Spend the money on a side scan finder; you'll be glad you did. Just lock it up when the boat is unattended.

Can you provide more detail on the "side Scan finder"...I never heard of it...is it an addition that you purchase for the fishfinder

"No instead of giving you an regular picture of the bottom to the transducer, it gives a side scanned view of obstacles in the water. Instead of a top view you get a side view. Those fish finders are nice but expensive."
