"I have a Yanmar 3JH3E with Saildrive SD-40. I changed gear oil[Spilax]and soon after found that sometimes it will not go in gear, especially when it has been running all day. Using it for the first time of the day it is quite reliable.Reverse is the most problem.When it is in gear it does not slip and will stay in gear until it is taken out of gear.I have 2000 hrs on this unit."
