"Hi guys, need help-
I have twin 90 hp yamaha's (1989's)- they were running fine last time I was out a few months ago. Now the Stbd one has no spark when turning over- I've swapped out the CDI unit and the box above it (regulator) with the other motor and still no spark. I've taken resistance measurements of the coils, and pulser, everything seems to check fine. I'm at a loss, any ideas? I wont be able to get back and troubleshoot till next Saturday so I have all week to think about this. Thanks Mucho!

unplug the white wire form the cdi box
did you get sparky?

1989 YAM 140 V4 ENGINE HAS NO SPARK AT NO.1 CYL.
HAVE CHANGED COIL-LEAD-SPARK PLUG AND LEAD TO CDI UNIT. COULD THE CDI UNIT BE SUSPECT AND CAN IT BE TESTED?THIS ENGINE WAS STRIPPED DOWN AND REBUILT DURING THE WINTER.STARTS GOOD AND NOT OVERHEATING.

OK I disconnected the white wire and I got great spark! So I guess my switch is bad? That is up near the ignition or part of the ignition switch? can I just bypass the thing or then I have no way to stop the motor?
