"Hey guys, just a follow up from my other post, I am new to working on boats, and I am going to try grounding out the pink wire from the fuel tank as Bt doctur suggests from my other post to see if gauge works, but how do I access the tank? I know where it is, but is the access cover usually screwed down or does it pry up? I cant find any screw heads, could they be under the carpet? Again, the boat is a 89 17ft. Larson bowrider. Any suggestions? Thanks."

"Most have a pop-out type access in the floor, or raise the motor hatch and see if you have tank access there to the tank. sender is usually a 2 1/2 inch disc with 6-8 bolts/screws and 2 wires, 3 if using an external bonding ground."

Some of them unscrew like a giant jar lid. Look for indentations on the lid to grab w/thumb and middle finger; squirt w/WD-40.
