The shifting dog has a smaller

The shifting dog has a smaller dog on one side with a groove cut around it. does the groove go toward the forward or reverse gear

Small dog with groove? or one

Small dog with groove? or one large groove around the entire clutch? A 96 manual says "groove on the clutch dog MUST face the forward gear"--- I will check on a gearcase / clutch later today.
