"I have recently purchased a 1996 112 SPL on a boat. The first time I took it out, all went well. Today the motor started OK, idled fine with high RPMs. When I put it in gear to take off it kept dying. Once I was able to keep it running, I could only go about 1/6 throttle. No power at all. RPMs were fluctuating between 2000 and 3000. Again, it would idle fine. No power at all. I figured if the plugs were fouled, they would eventually clean up. Well when I got back home, I pulled the plugs, and it appears to be running on 2 cylinders. Any ideas?? Stator, Power pack, just the plugs, coils?? It seams as if it shut down half of the motor. I do mix my gas 50:1. The gas may be old, as I just purchased it and the previous owner said that it has been sitting a while. Are these problem motors? Thanks for your help!!!"
