Wiring more than one battery

"hello all- i have been search

"hello all- i have been searching for a diagram to wire a second battery into my system. i've got a 4 cyl mercruiser 170 hp. there are so many ways to do this, the google list seemed overwhelming!
i want a way to run my electronics off a second battery so I can keep the first one primarily for the engine. i figured after looking around here that somone here would know the best solution.

"There's another post a little way down that covers it. Add a switch, etc. The only thing I may suggest is that instead of running negative to negative at the battery, ground each separately. That way if you lose the one closet to the block for some reason, no rewiring is needed."
