"I am just getting around to changing my gimble bearing. 7.4 L Bravo 1. Everything is clean and no sign of water intrusion or corrosion. Bellows are in good shape. The bearing won't budge. I am using a slide hammer puller. I gave up for the night. Are there any special tricks to use? Someone told me that you could drill around the perifery of the bearing, but that seems excessive. I could switch to a screw type puller."

"Adam,
Many a boaters been there-done that. The answer for me I think 3 times was that my slide hammer did not work and needed to borrow my brothers bigger one.Since then I made it so that mine was heavier with the help of some metal and a welder. To me that is not a place for a drill at all.I would spray it up tonight yet with some Marvel oil, find a bigger hammer or add weight to yours and go for it tommorow.Another hint is get a friend to keep pulling on the hammer while you work the slide as that will get you a much better and stronger hit.Keep a smile...you will get it."
