Type-C is the oil for electric

Type-C is the oil for electric shift units.It has nothing to do with the electrical end of the unit as some have posted.It has to be squeezed out of the way quickly for the clutch spring to grab hold of the hub.USE TYPE-C FOR ELECTRIC SHIFT.

I've been using GL-5 in my 1964 Johnson 75HP (electric shift). It has been working fine with no shifting problems. I'll make sure from now on what ever I use is Type C from now on.

"Bill, some of the marine gear oils on the market are rated for (normal) as well as type C. Just check the label...."
