"I have 1989 Johnson 65hp (Model# J65WMLZ) that runs perfect in the lower elevation lakes around Southern California. When I go to higher elevation lakes (6000-8000 ft) in the Sierras it has a difficult time idling, routinely fouls plugs and difficult to re-start. Do you have suggestions for altitude tuning."
 
not really for weekending. wou

not really for weekending. would require re-jetting and changing back when you return to low elevation. try a lower pitched prop. that should help a little.
