Alpha 1 Gen 1 vs Gen 2

"Hi guys...

Just sitting around waiting for the snow to melt and the ice to clear off the lake.
I have a 2005 Tahoe with a 4.3 in it. My question is... How do I know if I have a Gen 1 or Gen 2, Alpha 1 unit? The drive number is OW592794. Is one better than the other? In some ways it doesn't really matter what I have (I guess) until I have to make repairs on it. I'm just updating my spec. notes on the boat and thought it would be a nice to know.

Considering that the Gen.IIs came out in I think 1991,....
It's pretty safe to say you're got the Gen.II.....

The Differences are,....
A Bigger Waterpump,+ the Shift shaft is different....."
 
i have a 4.3 cuts out and dies

i have a 4.3 cuts out and dies after open throttle for about 10 mins then starts straight await after and does the same any one had the same and what was cause ?
