"Hi everyone, I'm brand new to this site and am very impressed with all the great information.
Ok, I have a 1987 AQ131 with a 275 outdrive and it runs great don't get me wrong, but I love workin on motors and workin on projects and horsepower just as alot of us do haha. A good friend of mine has just pulled out of his boat an '85 chevy 305 marine engine in great shape but just needs rebuilt, which is no problem. But instead of rebuilding it he's going with the more horsepower option and building an even bigger motor.
So, my few questions are: If I would get his old 305 and rebuild it, is it possible to bolt up to my 275 drive and or what changes would have to be made? Will the 275 drive even hold the extra horsepower (since it would be right around 100 more horse give or take), and as far as weight issues go, how much heaver would this be than my original 4-cylinder?
