"I recently installed a new vacuum gauge roughly in the middle of the hose between the secondary (Yanmar) filter and the primary (Racor 500fg) filter. The fuel system is definitely bleed-ed (sp). It appears to be a high quality 2.5" diameter liquid filled gauge with a drag pointer (Sailor's Solutions). With the engine running, the gauge is pretty much a blur looks like between 0-5 inches of mercury. Drag pointer stays at 5 when the engine has shut down. Engine still runs great, no noticeable changes.

Does anyone else have a similar gauge? Does your pointer look like a blur? Does anyone have any idea why this vibrates so much? Sailor's Solutions web site says "Most Diesel engines use a mechanical fuel pump (lift pump), which will cause the needle to vibrate." I asked the manufacturer of the gauge, they say it should not vibrate that much. They sent me a replacement gauge, vibrates the same. They had no other ideas why my system behaves this way."
