"Can someone help, i was told that changing the points to electronic ignition will work better and will produce more horse power. what its there to this. I have a mid 80's, 302, 5.0, v8
175 h/p, ford. with clip cap ignition."

"Definitely, and you can toss out that ballast resistor at the same time. Another weak link in hte system that could leave you stranded.

PS: Everyone I hear from who has tried this is pleased with the results: better spark, no damn points, etc. Be sure to change the coil to one recommended by Petronix (or whatever)."

I replaced my points

"Luchi,
I replaced my points on an omc cobra 4.3l. It shifts better, runs better, starts better. I couldn't be more pleased. You'll have to simply follow directions on connecting into the electronic cut-out shift switches on the throttle cable linkage bracket. Not a big deal."
