"Dash gage goes to full up position when key is on. This drive has a trim indicator on each side. Trim works fine, just no indicaton. Can anyone tell me how to troubleshoot this and what the output should be of each trim indicator? Thanks in advance for your help."

"The trim indicator "sending unit" is a little circular thing attached to the starboard side of the outdrive right at the vertical pivot point. There's two wires attached to it. It seems pretty common for the wires to get beat up, insulation cracks and peels etc, or water to get into the unit.
BTW, the unit on the port side is a limit switch that cuts out the 'trim up' button. This prevents you from bring the outdrive too far up and potentially damaging it. If one is shot the other is probably close behind."
