"Bob,

The Mercury oil syste

"Bob,

The Mercury oil system is very reliable, as are the systems of all manufacturers.

The Mercury system uses crankcase pressure to force the oil from the oil tank into the reservoir on the engine.

The valve which regulates the oil flow will allow excess oil into the fuel supply if the linkage is broken or disconnected.

As long as the warning alarm is functioning you can rely on the oil system.

Frequently, people choose to mix the oil into the fuel tank rather than repair the broken component, chiefly to save the cost of buying expensive parts. I guess there are times when this is the right thing to do, but if your oil
system is working properly, I would advise you to stick with it.
