" Hello to all,
I've got a 1968 33hp Evinrude. Great motor, usually runs great, but
twice now have had trouble. Set up is this:
13 gallon tank with 8 foot OMC hose, fuel at
24:1 mix. Engine starts fine, halfway across the
lake at wide open throttle it cuts down to about
25% throttle without my consent... It doesn't run
rough, just at a lower rpm/throttle. I squeeze the
fuel bulb and find it's maybe 'half hard' if there
is such a way to describe it. After pumping the
fuel bulb for a minute or so it perked up to full
throttle for a few minutes only to happen again.
This time, fiddling with the fuel bulb does nothing. I head for the dock, it stalls frequently
as I idle waiting for my turn, finally I just shut
it off and paddle in place and back to the dock.
Any suggestions?
Thanks to all in advance....
Eric. "

"Eric... The proper fuel/oil m

"Eric... The proper fuel/oil mixture for that engine is 50/1 = 1pt of 50/1 oil to 6gal fuel. The fuel primer bulb does not stay hard when the engine is running. Check your fuel for traces of water. Check the compression. The spark should jump a 1/4" gap on both cylinders with the s/plugs out. Keep us informed as to what you find.
