1972 50hp evinrude electric shift propellor shaft seal failure

" Hi Joe! Thanks in advance for your help. I have the above outboard and it runs great but I did a mid season oil check and it is milky. Regardless of currency (I'm in Canada), what is the seal worth and how many hours of labor? Also what is the impellar worth and hours to change. Thank-you again. "

"A complete seal kit (everything) is about $40.00 and takes about 6 hours to reseal the unit.

The prop shaft seals (2) cost about $10.00 each and if the carrier had to be removed to replace them, it would take about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Sometimes, they can simply be pried out and replaced which would take about an hour.

The water pump impeller cost about $25.00 and normally takes 2 hours to replace.

" As follow up to these issues, I took my boat to the local evinrude dealer. He changed the prop seals, driveshaft seals and a new water pump impellar (old one was still good but I requested the change anyway). Total cost was $256 canadian funds (about $165 US) which included 15% tax. "
