AM CURRENTLLY REBUILDING A BU

AM CURRENTLLY REBUILDING A BUDDIES 3.0 VOLVO. FOUND FLAT CAM LOBES AND A SPUN ROD BEARING.SEVERAL PISTONS WERE BAD ALSO AT THE PIN BOSSES. OWNER HAD REPLACED THE CIRCULATION PUMP AND FRESH WATER PICKUP PUMP LAST FALL.I SUSPECT STUCK THERMOSTATE MAY HAVE STARTED THE WHOLE THING.OWNER FOUND A BURNED PIECE OF PLASTIC AND A PIN IN THE EXHUST IN THE LOWER UNIT. IS THIS SOME SORT OF VALVE IN THE RISER OR WHAT? WHAT IS ITS PURPOSE? THANKS!!
 
ALSO HAD THE BLOCK MAGNAFLUXE

ALSO HAD THE BLOCK MAGNAFLUXED..OK. SOME SIGNS OF WATER ONCE IN #`S 1 & 4 CYLINDERS. MANIFOLD DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE CRACKED. MODEL YEAR IS 1996.

The exhaust tube on some Volvo's have a flapper valve in them. It is located in the bellows between the transom shield and the outdrive. Maybe that's what it is.Greg Kelly
