"Only one year old. Always has been difficult to start. Been in shop many times. New plugs, idle checked, etc. When it does start it usually cuts out 10-15 seconds later. A real bummer. Thoughts?"

I would guess that the idle jets are clogged. It can happen very easily on these engines because the venturi is extremely narrow.
