View Full Version : Rental boat with broken crankshaft Did I cause it
09-25-2007, 09:01 AM
"I rented a boat that was beat up, bent aluminum propeller, boat engine made some strange noise. I complained to the rental company about it, two days into week. When I returned the boat, they said that I hit something with the propeller and the damage caused the crankshaft to break, causing $3,000 of damage. Does anyone have any thoughts on whether hitting something hard enough to bend an aluminum propeller could break the crankshaft of the engine. It was an IO."

No way You may manage to break a crank that way whatever You hit.
Post some picks of the crank and breakage.

consider for a moment that there is a rubber (or plastic) hub in the prop and another in the coupler.
