I have a 1974 omc that has had water in the oil for the past 3 years and was wondering if anyone could tell me what other engines would basically bolt right in its place? Also other than a major overhaul is the 2.5 prlobably finished? Thanks any help

"Depending on whether your engine was winterized properly, (assuming you live in a cold climate), you have several problem possibilities. Blown head gasket, cracked head, block or manifold. Head gasket, head or manifold the engine is probably worth fixing. Cracked block, look for a short block, use your good parts.
Start your engine, get it warm, shut it down, pull the spark plugs and try to determine which cyl the water is coming in through. Keep in touch, e-mail me at: [email protected]
