" I am looking at the purchase of a Carver with twin 350 Crusaders that are seawater cooled. 875 hours, built in 1985, spent 11 years in salt (Florida) and the past 5 years in fresh water.
What major components can I expect to be affected?
I'm not as concerned with replaceable "bolt on parts", such as risers and manifolds, but rather the block's condition. Any info would be appreciated. "

" Sounds like you're very close to rebuild or replace time. Water jackets in the block and heads would most likely be considerably corroded. Probably a lot of sediment in the bottom of the block jackets, too. Only way to know for sure is have a machinist check the cylinder walls for thickness, but it may be more cost effective to replace the blocks and heads after 11 years in warm salt water. "
