" I had a 1977 OMC 800 Stringer outdrive on a Ford 302 until the outdrive went south and is beyond rebuild.
I have an opportunity to buy a used outdrive off a 225 HP 305 Chevy around 72 model for $200 with everything from prop to bellhousing. The owner says it has a rubber boot (like my 800), electric shift, and trucourse steering.
Will the older outdrive bolt onto my engine and fit in the transom hole or do I have to get a comparable 800 model unit?
My intermediate housing is shot; will his from an older Chevy fit on my newer Ford 302?
I assume I may be buying new steering and shift cables. "
