" I have a FWC LM318 that the starbord manifold and riser gets hot at idle, the second I add a few rpms it cools right off. The water from the exchanger is divided to the manifolds on the port side, could it be starving the right side? I took the riser and elbow off and everything looks clean. I had this happen on a 305 before, replaced the manifolds and it still did it so Im trying to avoid that again. "

" Is the engine raw or fresh water cooled? It could be the raw water pump or the cooling water pump. I would check the hoses first though to rule out a blockage there, also they are cheaper to replace if need be. May also be a blocked raw water intake or strainer.Could also be a little restriction in the heat exchanger. "
