BF 130 Main Relay

I have two Honda BF 130 A'

I have two Honda BF 130 A's currently operating in West Africa doing research. My latest problem is that my main relay just burnt through four of the wires and went up in smoke. Does anyone know why this may have happened? I started up the engine and within 5 seconds it cut out. When I went to restart it cranked but would not start. Then I noticed smoke coming out from under the cover. I opened it up and saw the relay smoking. I replaced the bad relay with the relay off my other engine (can't get parts over here) but the engine still wont start. The fuel pump is not coming on when I turn the key. I have checked all the fuses and they are good. Could whatever fried the relay have fried something else that is causing no power to run to the fuel pump? Any help would be great.
