" This is my first year with this 26' used Bayliner. The boat yard where I store this boat winterized it for me and mentioned there were metal filings/shavings (I guess a small amount; I said I'd make the decision about what to do when the season started and I could see the filings) in the fluid that was drained from the vertical drive. I recently had the tranmission on my Audi flushed and refilled. and there were some very small filings in the filter. The dealer said no big deal. I have had no problems with it. Is it possible that a small amount of filings could be no problem in the vertical drive fluid?

ANY TIME YOU HAVE 2 METAL OBJECTS ROTATING IN CONTACT YOU WILL HAVE A SMALL AMOUNT OF METAL WEAR. IF THE OIL IN THE OUTDRIVE IS CLEAN AND FREE OF METAL YOU SHOULD BE OK. IF THE OIL HAS A SILVER TINT TO IT THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.

DON'T FREAK OUT BUT HAVE IT CHECKED FOR GOOD MEASURE.
